Got an upcoming trip to Los Angeles? Or are you thinking of booking a trip there very soon? Whatever your situation we wanted to give you our recommendations for some of the best things to do in Los Angeles

Warner Bros. Studio Tour

If you want to learn about the craft of making movies and television shows, a trip to LA’s Warner Bros. Studio Tour is a great choice. Taking a standard tour lasts between two and three hours and during that time you’ll get to go behind the scenes where some of your favourite shows and films were produced. We’re talking The Big Bang Theory, Central Perk from Friends, as well as props and costumes from Harry Potter and the DC Universe.

Walk Among the Hollywood Hills

No trip to Los Angeles is complete without a trip to the Hollywood Hills. If you want a close up look at the Hollywood Sign, why not take a hike at Griffith Park? Or if you want to admire the sign and the views of the city across the valley, Runyon Canyon is the best spot for this. Griffith Park, with its rough wilderness and mountainous terrains, also makes for the perfect place to go for a horseback ride.

Bergamot Station

Looking for art whilst in LA? Then jump on a train to Bergamot Station! This internationally renowned art complex is home to over 30 galleries and creative businesses too. It’s free to visit, and you’ll enjoy regular and rotating exhibitions, from artists across the world. They also host a number of cultural events throughout the year, so be sure to check out their events calendar when you’re in town!

Venice

This beachfront neighbourhood is eccentric, cosmopolitan and independent. And one of the best things to see whilst in Los Angeles. You’ll see tattoo parlours, skaters, street performers, gym buffs at Venice Muscle Beach and so much more. Or if you want to explore another side to Venice, head to the Venice Canals. They’re only a stone’s throw from Venice Beach, but such a dramatic change in pace and atmosphere. Take a quiet stroll along the water, stop at charming footbridges and spot wildlife that call these canals home.

Catch a Basketball Game

If you’re a basketball fan, you may have heard of a little team called the LA Lakers. So whilst you’re in Los Angeles, why not try and catch a game? We would always recommend getting tickets in advance if you can. If you have no luck, head to a sports bar in the city and watch the game there, along with the locals.

Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens

Los Angeles is home to one of the world’s greatest research libraries and the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens is that place. Housing more than nine million items and nestled among 120 acres of lush botanical gardens, there is plenty to see and do during your visit. The first Thursday of every month the Huntington opens its doors to visitors for free, but be sure to get a ticket!

Watts Towers

Another top thing to do when in LA, is something a little different, but pretty spectacular. Head to the neighbourhood of Watts to catch a glimpse of the Watts Towers. Built by one man over 34 years, these towers are a wonder to witness. The 17 sculptures were created using shells, tiles, plastic bottles, mirrors, pottery and grinding wheels. The West Tower is the tallest of them all, reaching nearly 10 stories high.
