Nicknamed the tunnel of love by locals because of its flooding tourist attraction to couples. The tunnel of Love is situated in Klevan, Ukraine and is a three kilometre railway which leads to the fibreband factory. The train travels three times a day taking foods to the factory however the train tracks are covered by lush green trees which make a tunnel for those long walks and strolls across this beautiful country. This is the perfect spot for you photography lovers and lovebirds as it is said that when you make a wish under the tunnel it comes true.

Bamboo Forest, Japan 

The Sagano Bamboo Forest is one of the most magnificent sites in Japan. With sky high bamboo, it feels as though you’re walking into a wonderland. The sound of Bamboo Forest has been voted by the Japanese government as one of the one hundred must be preserved sounds of Japan. As the wind blows on the bamboo makes the sweetest noise that might get you singing a melody or two.

Tianzi Mounatins, China

How would you like to visit the location of James Cameron’s Avatar? The Tianzi Mountains were formed underwater 380 million years ago as the flow of the current had destroyed surrounding sandstones, leaving only resilient stone pillars. The uniquely tall and thin structured mountains are so exceptional and alien that it should be a must on everyone’s bucket list. The Tianzi Mountain is named after Xiang Dakun who led the local peasant revolt and the mountain has since become any travel photographers dream as it is said that some of the mountain columns have reached over 4,000 feet above sea level leaving you with no better view.

The Seaside Restaurant Cave, Italy

Located in the city of Polignano a Mare in the south of Italy sits a beautiful restaurant situated in a cave. Socotra, Yemen

Socotra is a four islands archipelago in the Indian Ocean and is 95% of landmass. It sits 240 kilometres east of the Horn of Africa and south of the Arabian Peninsula. It is said to be the most isolated place in the world and is truly one of a kind. Socotra is famous for its unusual shaped plants and biodiversity as the effects of its hot climate and isolation has created 307 of the 825 endemic plant species which are found in Socotra.

Lake Retba, Senegal

Lake Retba is also known as Lace Rose meaning pink lake and is situated at the north of the Cap Vert peninsula of Senegal. The unique colour is caused by high levels of salt containing up to 40% of the condiment. The colour is most visible during the dry season of November to June. The lake is separated from the Atlantic Ocean by what can be said to be narrow corridor of dunes. If you visit this magnificent place you will be sure to see salt collectors working at the lake and the shores storing piles of salt however don’t be afraid to jump into the lake as the Dunaliella Salina bacteria which gives the lake its colour is completely harmless to humans.

The Crooked Forest, Poland

In the west of Poland outside Nowe Czarnowo, there are around 400 pine trees that have grown at a 90 degree bend at the base of their trunks since the 1930’s. The fairy-tale forest is mysterious as no one knows the reasons why these trees have grown this way. It believed that some form of human tool or technique was used to make the trees grow this way but the exact methods are not known.

Zhangye Danxia Landform

Formed around 6 million years ago the Danxia landform consists of unique colourful steep cliffs which appear to be canvas like for its picturesque view. Zhangye Danxia is located in Linze and Sunan in the Gansu Province in central north China. Geologists believe that Danxia topography has been created due to the movement of the earth’s crust causing the greens, yellows, blue and purples in the mountains. The mountains are composed of several hundred meters high cliffs which are smooth and sharp are surrounded by riversides which give a magnificent view. Across from the Danxia there are numerous rocky outcrops that are said to resemble weird and specific shapes such as castles, cones, towers, birds, humans and beasts. This is a must see for any back packer or adventure seeker.

Chand Baori, India

Chand Baori in Abhaneri village in the east of Rajastan is one of the most unique landmarks in the country. It is one of the oldest stepwell in Rajastan and is considered to be one of the biggest in the world. However Chand Baori looks like anything but a well as it is constructed by 13 stories deep, lined walls on three sides. Built in the 8th and 9th century by King Chanda of Nikumbha Dynasty it has provided the local people with a water source and temple which is open to the public and is a most see for you historians out there as you will find so much tradition and culture in India.

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

Salar de Uyuni is in southwest Bolivia and is the world’s largest salt flat at 10, 582 square kilometres and is located in the Potosi and Oruro of Bolivia. Salar de Uyuni was formed due to the transitions between several prehistoric lakes. The Salar today however serves as the major transportation route across the Bolivian Altiplano and is the major breeding ground for pink flamingos.
