    Hostels or (youth hostels) are the ultimate budget option for travellers! Most hostels are built into cool, old converted buildings but some offer a totally unique sleeping experience, from castles, boat houses and caves, for a very low price.

  • Do I need to be a student to book a hotel or hostel with StudentUniverse?

    Anybody over the age of 18 with a valid credit/debit card is eligible to book a hotel or hostel on StudentUniverse. You do not need to be a student or faculty member to book accommodations.

  • Do hotels have minimum age requirements?

    Please be aware that some hotels may have minimum age restrictions or requirements when reserving a room. For example, some hotels with casinos may require you to be 21 years of age to check into a room. Please inquire with a Customer Care Agent or with the hotel directly.

  • Do the prices include taxes?

    The tax included in the price differs from country to country. Please check how the country you are travelling in handles taxes, check the hotel facilities page, the taxes and fees column on your payment page or you may contact us.

  • Can I book by phone?

    Our website has all our cheap hotels and youth hostels and is available 24/7. Our travel agents do not have access to anything other than what's on our site.

  • Can I make a booking without a credit/debit card?

    No, you must use a valid credit/debit card to make a reservation.

  • My credit card number is correct, but it is not being accepted?

    There are a few possibilities:

    • Your card type is not accepted.
    • The card expiration date precedes the reservation date.
    • You have reached your credit limit.
    • There is a computer error.

    If the error continues to occur please contact us.

  • What is a deposit?

    A deposit is the amount of money you pay at the time of booking to secure your reservation.

    With StudentUniverse you either pay a 10% deposit at the time of booking and remainder directly to the hotel on arrival, or you pay 100% of the reservation at the time of booking.

    Note: Some hotels take cash only upon arrival - all your payment details are outlined at the time of booking, and appear on your booking confirmation email.

  • Is there a hotel shuttle service to/from the airport?

    Many hotels offer shuttle service to and from the airport. This may be listed with the hotel Information page. If it is offered, there may be a charge by the hotel for this service. Holiday rentals often do not have this type of service.

  • Is parking available? Free parking? Long-term parking?

    Most hotels and vacation rentals offer free parking to their guests, although some may charge. Long-term parking is offered at the discretion of the property (often in conjunction with park and fly rates). This may be listed on the hotel Information page.

  • Is breakfast included?

    Many hotels offer free breakfast. Often this is a continental breakfast or sometimes just coffee and donuts. It would be very rare for a Holiday rental to provide breakfast. If included, it should be listed on the hotel Information page.

  • How can I cancel my booking?

    Please refer to your booking confirmation email or the Terms of use for instructions on how to cancel your reservation.

  • If I cancel my booking, when will I get the money back?

    Refund time lines differ; please refer to the Terms of use.

  • How can I change my dates or something else about my hotel/hostel reservation?

    Whether you can change your booking or not depends on the cancellation policy of your hotel. Please see the details on your booking confirmation email or in the Terms of use.

  • Will I get the direct contact information for my hotel/hostel?

    Yes, we will give you the direct hotel/hostel contact information in your confirmation email.

  • What if I'm experiencing technical difficulties while trying to book a place to stay?

    Please contact us if you are experiencing technical difficulties. To help us help you, please note what actions you were taking, any error messages, or any other relevant information.

  • Can you resend my booking confirmation email?

    Yes, contact us directly and we would be happy to resend this to you.

  • What if I get sick or my travel plans change unexpectedly?

    Please follow the cancel policy on your booking confirmation email. Hotel cancellation fees may apply; please see you're booking email or the Terms of use for details.

    Unexpected changes can occur, so we always recommend you purchase travel insurance.
