Around the world you’ll find many many Pride festivals, each with varying parades, exhibitions and parties taking place. And with decades under their belt for some of the festivals, it’s hard to know which city does it best. So we’ve compiled this list with some of our absolute favourite cities across the globe to celebrate Pride.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam for us is one of the best cities in the world to spend Pride. This year it takes place from 22nd July to 6th August and in true form the schedule is jam packed with festivities. Attend  Pride at the Beach on 1st August. Then head to StudentPride presents: Dichtgetikt for some music fun on 3rd and 4th August. There will be street parties pretty consistently from 4th to 6th August. Finally, it wraps up with a closing party on 6th August at the MainStage on Dam square.

London

The London Pride Parade takes place on 1st July this year, with the theme still to be announced. Join the hundreds of LGBT+ groups as they march through Central London, celebrating Pride and why it matters to them. This impressive colourful event is open to everyone, so why not head to London for the weekend and join in the festivities?

San Fransisco

This year marks the 53th year of the San Francisco Pride. The main celebrations this year will take place from 24th to 25th June. But the city has Pride events happening all June long. The theme of the parade is “Looking Back and Moving Forward,” honoring the progress that has been made while looking to what is still to come in the future. The parade is set to draw in upwards of 1 million attendees. But San Fran’s Pride doesn’t stop with just a parade. The San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival is from 14th to 24th June. And on 22nd June there will be the inaugural Human Rights Summit. Plus there’s tons more going on too.

Sao Paulo

The Sao Paulo Pride celebrations start early in the summer (this year’s ran from 7 June to 11 June). This year’s parade on 11 June drew in millions of attendees. Sao Paulo Pride is literally one of the biggest in the world. If you want to get in on the action for this massive festival for 2024, it’s planned to run from 29 May to 2 June. Sao Paulo’s Pride culmintates in the parade, but in the weeks leading up to it there are street parties, with rainbow flags, dancing, music, street markets, cultural fairs, and concerts!

Brighton

Brighton- it’s the UK’s biggest Pride Festival and definitely one of the best places to celebrate Pride if you’re in the UK. This year Pride takes place from 4th – 7th August. This glittering festival has such a fantastic events line up and there really is something for everyone. You’ve got Fabuloso in the Park festival (featuring the Black Eyed Peas and sooooo many more), the Pride Parade, the Pride Village Party, and even a Pride Dog Show.

Berlin

Berlin Pride, otherwise known as Christopher Street Day by the locals, takes places this year on Saturday 22nd July. It’s been around since 1979 and is considered one of the largest Pride celebrations in Europe. Making Berlin a great choice of where to spend Pride this year. Take part in the parade and follow the performers as they march along Kurfürstendamm towards the Brandenburg Gate. There are also heaps of exhibitions, shows and other activities taking place around the city, so make the most of these too!
